Catechetical Chaos in Canada:  Causes and Cure

By Monsignor Vincent Foy

Foreword

Canada has not been immune to a pandemic crisis in Catechetics.  The “Come to the Father” program, succeeded by the “Born of the Spirit” program, have left the great majority of Canadian Catholic children religiously illiterate.  This article was widely distributed by St. Joseph’s Workers for Life and Family in 1999 and 2000.

Catechesi Tradendae:  Catechetics in the 1980’s

By Monsignor Vincent Foy

Foreword

The Apostolic Exhortation “Catechesi Tradendae” was the fruit of the Synod on Catechetics held in 1977.  That Synod was in response to what Pope Paul VI called “The catechetical crisis during these last few years”.  The present article was published in Issue No. 86 of the English periodical “The Keys of Peter”, 1980.
